Landi pointed this out before, but I did forget about it and wondered why the examples are running that slow...
So, for documentation purposes (and as an incentive to fix it, if possible):
When a controlWindowImage is set in the configuration in generalConfig->general->OpenSGApplicationBase,
the overhead of the (remotely) rendered controlWindowImage causes the whole application to slow down.
